The Man Who Mapped the Trees

  • Central Park West & West 72nd New York, NY (map)

Did you know that almost every tree in Central Park has been mapped by a local expert? Today, Central Park Nature's Ken Chaya will take you on a walk through his Central Park: a place with over 19,600 trees and 170 species. You will explore and identify bird and tree species and learn about the natural history of Central Park including the significant contributions of the park's designers, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux.

A walk with Ken is never predictable, but we will plan to visit the areas of Strawberry Fields, the Lake, and the Ramble on this tour. To take part in this unique experience, wear comfortable walking clothes and bring along binoculars if you have them.
