Twilight Trail Run with the Staten Island Greenbelt

It's National Trail Running day so head out to Staten Island for a trail run as the sun is setting. The group run along the Greenbelt's legendary trail system for a great experience at the end of the work day.  And of course the scenery is spectacular and the only traffic is from birds flying overhead! We'll relax on the grounds of the Nature Center post run.

Details:

-Group meets at: Greenbelt Nature Center, 700 Rockland Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314 Directions are on: sigreenbelt.org. 

-Dress for the weather and trail terrain. Bring water and a headlamp as it will be dark when we return.

-The distance and pace will be determined by the group.

-Travel advice from the Greenbelt:

If you're taking the ferry from Manhattan, the cab fare is worth every penny from the ferry stop. About $20 for a 20 minute ride.

A few other options:

A) Take SIRT train to New Dorp, then transfer to Port Richmond-bound S57 bus. The bus will let you off across the street from the nature center [at intersection of Brielle and Rockland Avenues]. Walk across the street to the nature center

B) Take S62 bus from SI Ferry terminal. At the intersection of Bradley Ave and Victory Blvd, get off bus and transfer to a New Dorp-bound S57 bus. The bus will let you off across the street from the nature center [at intersection of Brielle and Rockland Avenues]

The Greenbelt, a New York City park, boasts a 35-mile trail system that is surrounded by woodlands. You won't believe you're in New York City!   The trails are well maintained and well used. Local runners train in the Greenbelt for popular trail races that are offered in this beautiful park throughout the year.
